PlugCam

Terms

Terms of Service

Last updated October 29, 2026

The short version

  • Your clips are yours. We store and play them only to run PlugCam for you, show them only when you share them, and never sell them.
  • PlugCam is free to install. Backing up to the cloud takes PlugCam storage ($39 a year per 50 GB). New accounts get 50 GB free for their first 30 days. Storage renews every year until you cancel.
  • If your storage ends, your clips are kept for 30 days. After that they may be deleted, so download what you want to keep before then.
  • You're responsible for what you record and share. Follow the laws where you drive about cameras and recording, and only share video you have the right to.
  • PlugCam isn't a safety system or a guarantee of evidence. A clip can be recorded over, or not back up, before you need it. Keep your own copies of anything important.
  • Keep your eyes on the road. Video plays in the vehicle only while you're parked.

These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Scenic Stumps, LLC, doing business as PlugCam (“PlugCam,” “we” or “us”), about using PlugCam: the PlugCam app for vehicles with Google built-in (Android Automotive), the PlugCam apps for Android phones, iPhone, Wear OS watches and Android TV, the PlugCam app for Apple Watch once it's released (it's coming soon), the website at plugcam.app, and the PlugCam device once it's available (together, “PlugCam”). By creating an account or using PlugCam, you agree to them.

Our Privacy Policy explains what PlugCam collects and what we do with it, and is part of these terms.

What PlugCam is

PlugCam plays the clips your vehicle's own cameras record, puts your speed and battery power alongside them, groups them into drives, and can back them up to your account's cloud storage so you can watch, keep and share them in the vehicle, on your phone, on the web and on TV.

PlugCam doesn't record video or sound itself. It reads the folder your vehicle's cameras record to, so what's in a clip, how long it's kept on the vehicle and how good it is depend on your vehicle. PlugCam plays a clip's sound if the camera recorded any; GM's dash cam doesn't record sound. PlugCam never deletes or changes anything on your vehicle's camera drive.

PlugCam works with the vehicles it supports, which may change as vehicle makers change their cameras or software. We can't promise it works with every vehicle, or keeps working after a vehicle update.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 to use PlugCam, and at least 18 (or have a parent or guardian's permission) to buy PlugCam storage. Your PlugCam account is a PlugLog account: the same one works at pluglog.app and in the PlugLog apps. You sign in with links, QR codes or codes, so keep your email account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

You're responsible for what happens in your account, including in any vehicle, phone, watch or TV you sign PlugCam in to, and for who can use those. If you think someone else is using your account, sign PlugCam out where you can and email support@plugcam.app.

Using PlugCam safely

Don't use PlugCam in a way that takes your attention off driving. In the vehicle, PlugCam follows your vehicle's rules for what can be used while moving: video and its sound stop as soon as the vehicle moves, and play again once you're parked. Don't watch PlugCam on your phone or watch while you drive. You're always responsible for driving safely and following the law.

PlugCam's speed, power and braking figures come from what your vehicle reports and our own calculations. They're estimates and can be wrong. Hard-stop detection can miss an incident, or flag one that wasn't. PlugCam doesn't call for help, contact anyone for you, or replace your vehicle's own safety features.

Recording laws

Laws about cameras in vehicles are different from place to place, and you're responsible for following the ones where you drive and park. That includes laws about:

  • recording people and places, including recording sound and telling people they're being recorded;
  • where a camera or a screen may be in a vehicle, and what may show on a screen while it's moving;
  • recording on private property, at work, or in places where recording isn't allowed;
  • using, keeping and publishing video of other people, their vehicles and their license plates.

If other people drive or ride in your vehicle, it's up to you to let them know its cameras may be recording and that PlugCam may back the video up.

Your clips and drives

You own your content: your clips, the clips you make from them, your drives and their data, and your titles and tags. You give us permission to store, copy, process and play it only as needed to run PlugCam for you, as our Privacy Policy describes: backing it up, cutting the clips you ask for, showing it to you in PlugCam and on PlugLog, and showing what you choose to share to the people you share it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account (though we can't take back anything someone has already downloaded from a link you shared).

We never sell your clips or your data, and we don't use your videos for advertising or to train AI models. We don't look at your videos except when you ask us to (for support, say), when someone reports something you shared, or when the law requires it.

Sharing and the Community

What you share

Nothing is shared unless you share it. When you tap Share on a backed-up event (one moment, every camera of it, and nothing before or after it) or a clip you made, it goes on your public profile, and anyone with its link can watch it. With Also show it on Android TV on (it's on unless you turn it off), it's also in the PlugCam Community on Android TV, where anyone can watch it and react without signing in. There are reactions only, no comments. Only your first name and vehicle are shown with it, never a location or map, but anything the cameras saw is in it, so watch it first.

You can take something out of the Community, or stop sharing it altogether, at any time; everything you share is listed under Kept, Shared on plugcam.app. Once something is shared, people may already have watched it, saved it or shared it on, and we can't take back copies we don't hold.

What's not allowed to share

PlugCam doesn't blur faces or license plates, so you're responsible for what your video shows. Don't share anything:

  • illegal, or that you don't have the right to share;
  • violent, sexual or hateful, or meant to shock, such as a crash where people are hurt;
  • meant to harass, threaten, shame or single out a person, or that names them or shows where they live (doxxing);
  • that shows a person, their vehicle, their plate or their home in a way that invades their privacy;
  • that accuses someone of a crime, or that you've changed to mislead people about what happened.

Reporting a shared video

Anyone can report a shared video: tap Report under it on its page (the link it was shared with, on the driver's profile) or on its page in the Community on Android TV, say why, and, on the web, add an email if you'd like to hear back. Or email support@plugcam.app with its link. We look at every report.

We may stop sharing, or take out of the Community, anything that breaks these terms or the law or that we're told infringes someone's rights, and we may stop an account from sharing, or suspend it, if it keeps happening. Stopping a video from being shared doesn't delete it from your account.

Incident packages

When PlugCam spots a hard stop, it keeps that moment from every camera. You can share an incident with a link you create: you choose what goes in (the cameras, speed and braking, and the map, time and place), how long the link works (24 hours, 7 days or 30 days) and whether it needs a code. Whoever opens it can watch, download the videos and get a PDF report. You can turn a link off at any time, and then it stops working.

  • You choose who gets it. Anyone with the link (and its code, if it has one) can open it, and can keep what they download after it expires. Only send it to people you mean to, and follow the law when you do.
  • The videos are the originals. An incident package offers the clips as they were backed up from your vehicle, and the PDF lists each file's name and checksum. We don't edit or re-encode them. Clips you make are cut from your recordings without re-encoding, starting at the frame at or just before the start you pick.
  • It isn't certified evidence. We don't certify, notarize or vouch for a package, or confirm what happened, who was at fault, or a vehicle's identity or condition. The speed, braking, time and place come from what your vehicle reported and our calculations, and can be wrong. Whether a package is accepted, by an insurer, a court or anyone else, is up to them.

Storage and backups

Free and paid storage

Watching your clips in the vehicle, keeping and tagging them, and watching and saving them on your phone straight from the vehicle on the same network are free. Backing up to the cloud, backing up from your phone, and watching your backed-up clips anywhere take PlugCam storage, sold in 50 GB blocks at $39 a year each, up to 1 TB in all. It's shared by all your vehicles, needs no PlugLog Pro, and is bought on plugcam.app or pluglog.app, not in the apps. Prices are in US dollars and don't include any sales tax that applies where you live, which is added at checkout.

A new account gets 50 GB of storage free for its first 30 days (with PlugLog Pro). When the trial ends, that storage ends unless you buy storage, and we won't charge you unless you do. Sometimes we also give storage for free, for example to beta testers or early PlugCam users; free storage given for good stays as long as your account does.

When your storage is full

Backup keeps your newest clips, as your vehicle's own loop recording does. Clips you keep, clips you make and clips you share are never deleted to make room, and count toward your storage. Everything else can be: when a new backup needs the room, the oldest clips you haven't kept or shared are deleted automatically. If kept clips fill your storage, new clips can't back up until there's room, and we email you as they fill most of it. If your storage gets smaller than what's backed up, the next backup makes room the same way.

When your storage ends

If your storage ends (when a trial or a plan you've cancelled runs out, or a payment fails for good), new clips stop backing up. What's already backed up is kept for 30 days, to watch, download or delete. After those 30 days, it may be deleted, so download what you want to keep (Save to phone, or download it from plugcam.app) before then. Buy storage again within the 30 days and it stays.

No guarantee every clip is captured or backed up

PlugCam is a convenience, not a safety system or a guarantee of evidence. A moment can be missing, or never back up, because:

  • your vehicle's cameras didn't record it, or recorded over it before it could upload (a clip that's gone from the vehicle before it finished uploading is deleted from the cloud too);
  • the vehicle was off, its camera drive was unplugged or full, or the drive or a camera failed;
  • there was no Wi-Fi or signal, backup was off or falling behind, or that camera wasn't set to back up;
  • your storage was full of kept clips, or ended;
  • a vehicle update, our service or one we rely on had a problem.

If a moment matters, such as footage of an accident, keep it, back it up, and save your own copy (Save to phone, or download it from plugcam.app) as soon as you can.

Billing and renewal

PlugCam storage is billed yearly, in advance, through our payment processor, Stripe, on the same yearly subscription as anything else you buy from PlugLog (such as PlugLog Pro or Teslas). It renews automatically each year at the then-current price until you cancel, and Stripe charges the card you've saved. If you add storage partway through a year, you're charged now for the rest of that year; if you remove some, the unused part is credited toward your next payment. If a payment fails, we'll keep your plan on while Stripe tries again for a short while, then it ends.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel any time from Manage billing on the Upgrade page. Your storage then lasts until the end of the year you've paid for and doesn't renew. Payments aren't refunded, including for the rest of a year after you cancel, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong with a charge, email support@plugcam.app and we'll make it right.

Price changes

If we change a price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you'd like. A new price never applies to a year you've already paid for.

Drive backup and Location

Backing up your drives is your choice, and needs Location on, because a drive goes with its route. With Location on, PlugCam also names your drives and clips by town. A clip's drive data never includes your position. You can turn Location, drive backup or clip backup off in PlugCam's Backup page at any time. If the PlugLog car app records your drives on the same vehicle, PlugCam doesn't send any.

The PlugCam device

We're working on a small PlugCam device that plugs into your vehicle and backs up its camera clips on its own. Until it's available, this section tells you what to expect; we'll add anything more before it goes on sale.

  • You install it, at your own risk. Follow its instructions and your vehicle maker's guidance for anything you plug into the vehicle, and put it where it can't get in your way or come loose while you drive.
  • It doesn't change your vehicle's settings. It reads what the vehicle's cameras record, and can read the vehicle's data the way PlugCam and PlugLog do.
  • It uses a little of your vehicle's power, including while the vehicle is off. Unplug it if the vehicle will sit for a long time or its 12-volt battery is low.
  • It powers itself down when your vehicle's 12-volt battery runs low (below about 12.0 volts), so it doesn't drain it.
  • You can remove it at any time, and the vehicle works as it did before.
  • We're not responsible for damage from installing or using it against its instructions or your vehicle maker's guidance, to the extent the law allows. Any warranty for the device will come with it.

PlugLog

Your PlugCam account is also your PlugLog account, and your backed-up clips show on PlugLog's Videos page and your public profile at pluglog.app. PlugLog (pluglog.app and the PlugLog apps) has its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which apply when you use PlugLog. These terms apply to PlugCam.

What's not allowed

  • Breaking the law, or using PlugCam to harass, threaten, stalk or invade the privacy of others.
  • Recording, uploading or sharing anything you don't have the right to, or that's harmful or illegal.
  • Trying to get into other people's accounts, vehicles, clips or data, or around storage, sharing or rate limits.
  • Reacting or reporting automatically or in bulk, or gaming the Community.
  • Disrupting PlugCam, overloading it, or scraping it.
  • Copying, reselling or reverse engineering PlugCam, except where the law allows it.

Other companies

PlugCam relies on other companies, including your vehicle's maker (for its cameras and what the vehicle reports), Google (Google Play, Android and Android Automotive), Apple (the App Store), Stripe (for payments) and Cloudflare (hosting and storage). Their own terms apply to how you use them, and we're not responsible for their services, or for a vehicle maker changing its cameras, its recordings or what the vehicle reports.

Changes and ending

PlugCam is growing, and features will change. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell you by email or in the app before the change applies; using PlugCam after that means you accept them.

You can stop using PlugCam and delete your account at any time, in your account's Settings → Data at pluglog.app, and that deletes everything in it right away, including your clips and drives. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it. If we ever shut PlugCam down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can download your clips, and refund the unused part of any year of storage you've paid for.

Warranty and liability

We work hard to keep PlugCam working and your clips safe, but it's provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free, that it works with your vehicle, or that every clip or drive will be recorded, kept, backed up or played back.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost or missing footage, a claim you couldn't prove, or costs from relying on a figure PlugCam showed, and our total liability to you for anything related to PlugCam is limited to what you paid us for PlugCam in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.

Holding us harmless

To the extent the law allows, you agree to hold harmless, and to defend and indemnify, PlugCam and the people who run it from any claims, losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that come from what you record, share or send (including an incident package), how you install or use the PlugCam device, or your breaking these terms or the law. This doesn't cover harm caused by our own fraud or willful misconduct.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana and of the United States, without regard to conflict of laws rules. Any dispute about PlugCam that we can't settle by talking it through will be handled in the state or federal courts in Indiana, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. This doesn't take away any right you have to bring a claim where you live under consumer protection law.
